This documentary is a response to the lack of women’s voices being heard on commercial radio stations across the United States. For its nearly one-hundred-year history, radio has been an industry dominated by men, from station ownership and management, to on-air work. Currently, only about 25% of on-air talent in radio are women. This documentary highlights the realities of gender and its impact on career trajectory in this industry. The documentary gives voice to the women breaking barriers in this male-dominated field, and shines a light on their struggles as well as their accomplishments. Air talent, programmers and consultants from across the U.S. were interviewed for this project.
