Michigan History Day? 2020-2021

Michigan History Day flyer Michigan History Day? (MHD) is a competition held each spring for students in 4th-12th grades. After selecting a historical topic that relates to the annual theme, students conduct extensive research by using libraries, archives, museums, and oral history interviews. They analyze and interpret their findings, draw conclusions about their topics? significance in history, and create final projects in one of five categories: paper, exhibit, documentary, website, or performance. The 2020-2021 annual theme is Communication in History: The Key to Understanding. The Michigan History Day District 5 finals will be facilitated by Central Michigan University. For more information, please go to /http://hsmichigan.org/mhd. A special Curious Curators event for participants will be held November 11 from 6:00pm-7:00pm. Honors Program Visits Honey Bear

Honors Program Decorates Honey Bear This month ten Honors Program students joined Dr. Jay Martin and Alex Gamicchia in discussing CMU history and culture as part of a behind the scenes tour of the Museum. Students had the opportunity to experience unique hands-on activities, including bringing the VW micro-bus "Honey Bear" back to life with socially distanced and COVID protected chalk artwork. "Honey Bear" will no longer be on display at the Museum after November.
