This is the largest and most complete collection of Beaver Island fish and herpetology collections that span pre- and post-invasive species introductions. Student employees are busy photographing and updating specimens in the database in preparation for a collections move to Brooks and the Bioscience building, where they will be easily available for use in courses. This project is made possible by a grant from the National Science Foundation.

Michigan History Day

Michigan History Day Logo Do you know a child who loves History? If so, Michigan History Day is a great opportunity for them! Michigan History Day is an educational program of the Historical Society of Michigan that encourages students to explore local, state, national, and world history. This year's theme is "Breaking Barriers in History." Students will be able to select a topic, research their chosen topic, analyze their research, and draw conclusions about their topic. Their final project based on their research can be a paper, an exhibit, a documentary, a website, or a performance. These final projects can then be entered into a series of competitions from the local to the national level. This life-changing opportunity for students allows them to gain valuable skills. The registration deadline is February 21, 2020. To apply for District 5 competition held at Central Michigan University, visit http://hsmichigan.org/mhd/
