A New Process for Admission to Teacher Education

From this point forward an “Admission Form” (this is different from your application to teacher education) must be completed to alert the Center for Student Services you wish to be admitted. Students who want start their professional education courses in the Spring 2020 you must be admitted this fall. Forms will be accepted until September 6, 2019 at 5pm.

Follow the steps below:

  1. Make sure you have completed everything on the admission checklist:
    1. Review the Admission Checklist
    2. Check your Student Information Sheet (SI Sheet)
      1. You will look under the Admission Section of the Student Information Sheet
      2. The “Professional Skill Interview” & “Admission Date” should still read, “No.”

NOTE: You must have 45 credit hours completed (transfer credits included) to be admitted to teacher education.

NOTE: You will do your Professional Skills Interview in October or November 2019 and you will receive an email about scheduling your interview after admission.

  1. Admission means you want to start your Professional Education courses in spring 2020.
    1. Elementary Professional Education courses: EDU 393: Learning Theory in Elementary Education or ENG 315WI: Teaching Writing in Middle Level and High Schools
    2. Secondary Professional Education courses: EDU 310: Educational Psychology for Secondary Teachers and EDU 325: Middle level and High School Teaching Methods (music education only needs EDU 310)

If you have completed all the Teacher Education Admission Requirements and want to begin taking your professional education courses in spring 2020 please submit this form no later than September 6, 2019 at 5:00 pm:
