Museum Exhibit

Kids and Culture This Saturday!

Enjoy Kids And Culture this Saturday at the Museum! We hope you?ll bring your family out for this free program that explores 125 years of history at CMU through games, activities, and crafts that were popular in each decade. The event is from 10am-Noon. Activities will be held at both the museum in Rowe Hall and the Bohannon Schoolhouse/Gerald L. Poor Museum--be sure to visit both sites. With a variety of activities offered, there's something for everyone!

Downtown Exhibits

There are many exhibits downtown related to Homecoming. If you get a chance this week, drive downtown to see them. The City of Mount Pleasant, the Alumni Association, and the Museum collaborated with Gray Sky Gallery, Nicky V's Nails, Gray's Furniture, The Coffee House, and Mercantile Bank to bring the community these exhibits. We hope you'll visit the businesses and give them a hearty "Fire Up Chips" as a thank you.

"The Icons of CMU" Exhibit

As part of Homecoming activities, the Museum installed a new exhibit entitled, "The Icons of CMU." It is an exhibit of CMU's icons over the years, many of which alumni may recognize. You can view it in the Museum lobby through November.

Schoolhouse Hosts Record Number of K-12 Students This Fall

The Bohannon Schoolhouse/Gerald L. Poor Museum is in the midst of a record-setting fall! By the time the Schoolhouse closes for the season, more than 500 K-12 students will have visited. Thank you to the generous donors who have made this possible. Your donations to provide free busing and to maintain the schoolhouse have truly made a difference for many K-12 students who would never have the opportunity to visit a one-room schoolhouse and learn some of Michigan's history.

Alumni Village CHSBS Tent

The Museum Educator and Museum Asssistants developed several children's activities that were provided in the CHSBS Alumni Village tent at Homecoming. One of the unique features of the Museum Studies Program is the practical application of skills learned, and this was one of the many opportunities through which Museum Studies students gain experience while also serving the CMU campus and community.
