Native Treaties - Shared Rights Traveling Exhibit Showing Now
The traveling component of our current exhibit, Native Treaties ? Shared Rights is currently being shown at the Tamarack District Library in Lakeview and the Grant Area District Library in Grant until July 17. Beginning July 23, the traveling exhibit will be at the Summerfield-Petersburg Branch Library in Monroe County and at the Jonesville District Library in Jonesville.
From now until the end of the year, the exhibit will appear at eleven libraries throughout Michigan. Click on this link for a complete schedule of shows.
Native Treaties - Shared Rights explores how land, rights, and education came together as indigenous people and the United States Government created the legal understanding that underlies our societies today. Visit the Clarke website to view the supplemental web exhibit and essays and stop by the Clarke to see the full exhibit before the show closes in September.
This exhibit is made possible thanks in part to a grant from the Michigan Humanities Council.
The Clarke Acquires Four 19th Century Native American Portraits
The Clarke recently acquired four early nineteenth century lithographic portraits of Native Americans. These four portraits have been added to our over 70 lithographic prints of portraits by J. O. Lewis or Charles Bird King.

New on the Clarke's Social Media
In addition to the blog about our recent acquisition of Native American portraits, the Clarke?s social media featured many great posts. Take a look at recent images we posted to our Facebook and Twitter pages, such as a week?s worth of classic angling books for National Fishing Week (June 4-12), a first edition of the story of Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, Harvey Firestone, and J. Burroughs taking a camping trip in 1918, and a photo of actor Jeff Daniels appearing in a CMU student theater production in 1974 (photo at right).

Clarke Hours
