Target Group Definition: Based on Classic LISTSERV List
- To access the definition wizard for a target group, select the desired target group in the Target Groups subtree, then select Edit -> Open Target Group Definition from the menu (or go via the right-click menu of the target group node in the explorer tree).
- To create a new "Based on Classic LISTSERV list" target group, select New -> Recipient Target Group -> Based on Classic LISTSERV List from the menu (or go via the right-click menu of the parent target group folder in the explorer tree).
This Target Group Definition wizard lets you define a target group of the Classic LISTSERV List type that can then be used in the recipients wizard to define the recipients of a job.
The wizard for a target group of the Classic LISTSERV List type has multiple pages:
General, Source, Source Details,
Parameters, Input Layout,
Input Preview, Recipients Details,
and Summary.
The top row of the wizard displays links to each of these pages. The page that is currently open is marked with a highlighted background color. Depending on the choices made on some of the wizard pages, other pages may become disabled or may be shown in different versions. If a wizard page is disabled, then it means that this page is not necessary with the current choices and can safely be ignored.
Source Page: Select Classic LISTSERV List
Select the list name, together with the additional options:
- Send as standard list message to list subscribers: Any job using this target group results in a standard message to the list as if it was submitted to the list as a posting by a subscriber or an editor. The posting goes through all normal LISTSERV list processing such as message digests, list archive, and so on. However, bounce reporting from inside of LISTSERV Maestro is not possible for that job and mail merging is only possible if the list is defined to allow mail merging. If mail merging is allowed, tracking is possible too (although no "anonymous" tracking). If mail merging is not allowed, only blind tracking is possible.
- Send as special list message: Any job based on this target group is delivered to all subscribers of the list, however, not as a classic posting. It therefore does not undergo the normal list processing (no digests, list archives, and so on). Mail merging is possible as is tracking (except for "anonymous" tracking).
