Target Group Definition: Based on Database Access By LISTSERV Maestro
- To access the definition wizard for a target group, select the desired target group in the Target Groups subtree, then select Edit -> Open Target Group Definition from the menu (or go via the right-click menu of the target group node in the explorer tree).
- To create a new "database access by LISTSERV Maestro" target group, select New -> Recipient Target Group -> Based on Database Access by LISTSERV Maestro from the menu (or go via the right-click menu of the parent target group folder in the explorer tree).
This Target Group Definition wizard lets you define a target group of the Database access by LISTSERV Maestro type that can then be used in the Define Recipients wizard.
The wizard for a target group of the Database access by LISTSERV Maestro type has multiple pages:
General, Source, Parameters,
Input Layout, Input Preview,
Recipients Details, Duplicate Elimination,
and Summary.
The top row of the wizard displays links to each of these pages. The page that is currently open is marked with a highlighted background color. Depending on the choices made on some of the wizard pages, other pages may become disabled or may be shown in different versions. If a wizard page is disabled, then it means that this page is not necessary with the current choices and can safely be ignored.
Summary Page: Review Target Group And Enable/Disable
Besides summarizing the target group settings, this screen also contains another important feature - enabling the target group for use in the recipients wizard.
A target group that has been created by the data administrator is not automatically enabled for use in the recipients wizard. The data administrator must explicitly enable the use of each target group.
This is done on the Summary screen by checking (or unchecking) the Yes, allow the definition of recipients based on this target group option.
Target groups need to be enabled individually, giving the data administrator control over the use of each target group. This way, groups can be created in advance, and only enabled when needed. Similarly, target groups can be disabled, preventing users from accessing them, without permanently deleting them.
