Define Recipients: Select Recipients from a Database or LDAP Directory
Or from the job list, select the desired job, then in the job details pane, select the Summary tab and click on the Edit link in the Recipients section.
To access the recipients wizard for a given A/B-split job: On the A/B-Split Job Details page, click the Edit link in the Recipients section.
The Define Recipients wizard allows the defining of recipients that will receive the email message specified in the job when the job is finally sent.
The wizard has five pages: Options, Source, Source Details, Recipients Details, Advanced Settings, and Summary.
The top row of the wizard displays links to these five pages. The page that is currently open is marked with a highlighted background color. Depending on the choices made on some of the wizard pages, other pages may become disabled or may be shown in different versions. If a wizard page is disabled, then it means that this page is not necessary with the current choices and can safely be ignored.
Source Page: Database or LDAP Connection
This screen is used to specify the database connection and the SQL command (query) or LDAP search that LISTSERV Maestro shall execute to retrieve the recipients.
Selecting the Database Connection: Click the drop-down menu and select the connection to the database you want to access. Only connections that have previously been defined are available.
Adding a Database Connection: If the list of defined database connections does not contain a suitable entry for the database you want to access, click the "Add Connection" entry at the end of the drop-down menu. This opens a pop-up dialog allowing you to supply the necessary details for the connection. First select the database plugin from the drop-down menu. Only plugins that have previously been registered by the administrator are available. Once you have selected a plugin, the plugin-specific parameters are displayed and you need to fill them out with the values that allow LISTSERV Maestro to connect to the database that you want to access. If you are unsure as to what values to fill in, contact your administrator for assistance. When you are finished supplying the connection parameters and database credentials, click the [Ok] button to use the new connection. This connection is now listed and available for future use.
Specify whether LISTSERV Maestro shall retrieve the recipients now and store them internally for later sending or if the recipients shall be retrieved at the moment before sending.
- Now: Use this option if the data in the database or LDAP directory is available now and if LISTSERV Maestro shall access the database to retrieve a copy of the full recipients set. LISTSERV Maestro will perform the sending at a later time without accessing the database again.
Just before sending time: This option is most useful if you expect that the database will contain different or more recipients just before the scheduled delivery time. If you choose this option, then LISTSERV Maestro will only access the database to retrieve a preview of the recipients. This allows you to specify the email column, the name column, and further details on the Recipient Details screen. Later, when the email job is about to be delivered, LISTSERV Maestro will access the database once more to retrieve the actual, full set of recipients.
Note: If the database is not available at the moment before sending, then the job delivery will fail.
