Edit Subscriber Importer
- To access the importer definition wizard for a dataset or subscriber importer, go to the subscriber importers list of the desired subscriber dataset or list and locate the desired importer. Then click the Edit link in the top right corner of the importer box.
- To create a new subscriber importer, select the desired dataset in the Subscriber Datasets subtree and select Edit -> Subscriber Import -> Create New Subscriber Importer from the menu (or go via the right-click menu of the dataset node in the explorer tree).
- To create a new subscriber importer, select the desired list in the "Lists" subtree of its parent dataset and select Edit -> Subscriber Import -> Create New Subscriber Importer from the menu (or go via the right-click menu of the list node in the explorer tree).
The Edit Importer wizard lets you define, name and save a subscriber importer. This importer contains import modifications that will be performed on the list and/or dataset subscribers in a reusable fashion, so that the same modification can easily be applied several times.
If you do not want to create and save an importer but only want to make a one-time modification via upload, use the Modify by Import wizard instead.
The wizard has eight pages: General, Type, Type Details, Source, Parse Details, Map Fields, Mapping Details, and Summary.
The top row of the wizard displays links to these eight pages. The page that is currently open is marked with a highlighted background color. Depending on the choices made on some of the wizard pages, other pages may become disabled or may be shown in different versions. If a wizard page is disabled, then it means that this page is not necessary with the current choices and can safely be ignored.
Type Details Page: Additional Settings for Modification
This screen defines the details for the selected modification type. Not all of the details are available for all of the selected modification types.
Choice: If a new subscriber is not yet in the dataset:
What happens during an "add to a list" with imported rows that are not already found as existing subscribers of the dataset the list belongs to?
Available for:
- Add to List
- Synchronize with List
- Full Synchronize with List
The choices are:
- Add as new dataset subscriber: The system creates a new dataset subscriber that is then subscribed to the list.
- Ignore subscriber row: The system does not create a new dataset subscriber and ignores the imported row.
Choice: The update may be applied to:
How will an "update" of a list subscriber be applied - to the actual list specific profile values or to both the shared values from the dataset the list belongs to and the list specific values?
Available for:
- Update in List
- Synchronize with List
- Full Synchronize with List
The choices are:
- List and dataset values: The system updates both the list values and, if supplied, the dataset values.
- Only list values: The system updates only the list values and ignores any dataset related values.
Choice: Overwrite manual changes:
What happens during an "update" with subscribers that have manually modified their profile values since the last import modification?
Available for:
- Update in Dataset or List
- Synchronize with Dataset or List
- Full Synchronize with Dataset or List
The choices are:
- Yes, overwrite manual changes with imported values: The system overwrites the current data of the subscriber with the imported data even if the subscriber or the administrator has done manual changes on this data since the last import.
- No, keep values of manually changed subscribers: All subscribers where the data has been modified manually since the last import are not affected by the import; they are left unchanged.
