Bounce Details

View the details of the bounces for an email job that has already been delivered.

This screen reports all permanent bounces that have been collected by LISTSERV Maestro for the given job. Temporary bounces are ignored by LISTSERV Maestro.

A permanent bounce is a message that has experienced a permanent delivery error (either a permanent failure or a persistent transient failure), so that it was returned as undeliverable and no further delivery attempts will be made for that message. Each such bounce is recorded by LISTSERV Maestro in the form of the email address that was unreachable, together with the bounce reasons status code (following RFC 3463 conventions) and possibly a textual error description.

To include the most current bounces in the report, click the Update Bounces link.

The screen displays the bounce statistics in the form of a bar chart. The top bar shows the total number of all bounces. Below that, a bar for each bounce reason group for which there was at least one incident of a bounced mail is displayed. The sum of the lower bars is equal to the length of the topmost bar. At the left of each bar, the number of bounces in this group is displayed, together with the percentage of this bounce reason in respect to the total number of bounces.

To download the list of bounced addresses for one or several of the bounce reason groups, check the checkboxes at the right of the corresponding chart bars (check at least one). Next, select Download only the email addresses or Include delivery failure information in download. Including the delivery failure information will give you the bounced addresses as well as the reason the bounce occurred (RFC state number and reason text). Finally, click the [Download] button. Use the Check/Uncheck All link to conveniently check or uncheck all checkboxes at once.
